The Costa Calida offers over 170 kilometers of coast with many blue flag beaches. The area can reach temperatures up to 40 degrees during the summer months. The Costa Calida is home to the Mar Menor (small sea) which has a maximum depth of just 7 meters which makes it ideal for water sports. The mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean by a strip of land just 22 KMs long called La Manga. It is the largest salt water lagoon in Europe. Dotted around the Mar Menor are many beaches such as Los Alcazares. Los Alcazares is a small spa town and former fishing village. San Pedro is a small fishing town and wild life sancutary. It is a spa town and the waters are rich in minerals. Locals and holiday makers alike use the mud baths at San Pedro for its therapeutic qualities. The warm waters also attract many different species of wild life including the pink flamingo. The town has many bars and restaurants.
Cartagena
is a large naval town and is home to the first electric battery
submarine. The beaches around Cartagena are Mediterranean beaches such
as Calblanque beach and nature reserve. There is a excelent beach
at Cartagena with a large beach bar.restaurant.
